MILLER HOUSE

The Miller’s loved to entertain at their Huntington Harbour home. However, with a closed-in floorplan and little interest outside, the house wasn’t cooperating in the way they desired. With little outside access, rooms that were too divided, and an outdated kitchen and bathrooms, they knew that a remodel was in order.

With almost-always sunny weather the inside was just begging to be opened up to blend indoor and outdoor living. We worked with the Millers and came up with idea to bump out the back of their house while adding walls of moveable glass by Nanawall. Transitioning outside was eased further with a covered outdoor living room complete with in-wall TV fireplace and integrated heating for the sometimes-chilly nights on the water. As guests migrate further outside they can relax on the patio while the Millers cook using their built in outdoor kitchen with pizza oven.

Balancing out the casual Huntington Harbour outdoor living, the Millers wanted the inside to appear more formal while still adding integrated home entertainment. At first glance – or even at second glance – nobody would suspect that the living room was actually a home theater. All of the custom cabinetry discretely housed the components complete with pull-out racks and expandable wiring. Behind a retractable painting, the flat-screen TV waited to entertain. Even the subwoofer was strategically built into the kitchen island adjoining the space. Invisible speakers were added into the ceilings to carry sound throughout the house without seeing them at all.

A kitchen suitable for a chef was the only way to go for a true entertainment home. Remodeling the kitchen with double islands, pull-out pantries, professional ovens, warming drawers and integrated Sub Zero refrigeration was pulled together perfectly with the detailed custom cabinetry. The details were then carried into the dining room via a passthrough which also doubles as a bar. Warmth was added to the space by creating a barreled ceiling with accent lighting, softly illuminating the space below.

The bathrooms were not left out and received full bathroom remodels that brought in the details found throughout the home. Soft lighting, contoured cabinetry, custom tile work, and Venetian plaster on the walls complete the home remodel for an experience the Millers are proud to share with others.
