The Mid-century Modern movement has left behind many homes which take advantage of the mild Southern California weather and bring the outdoors in – or the indoors out depending on how you look at it. Since many of those homes are approaching 60 and 70 years old, they need some care to bring them up to date and to rejuvenate their original vision. And with many modern advancements in materials and technology, we at Zawalski Construction, make sure they are truly up to date when we are done.

This modern ranch home was rebuilt from bottom to top with all new technology including LED accent lighting along the exposed open beam ceiling where there was no lighting before. This accent lighting throughout the home is not only energy efficient, but it also gives a soft glow over the entire living space and highlights the architectural exposed beams.

All new windows and doors with large glass lights help bring in light and add a feeling of airiness to the space. Additional custom NanaWall bi-fold doors on adjacent walls allow an indoor-outdoor flow that the home never had before.

The new kitchen and bath take advantage of Noritz tankless water heaters, ensuring the owners never run out of hot water.

The outdoor living space wasn’t complete without adding an outdoor kitchen and an outdoor game room. And when the food is gone and the pool match is over, the built-in water feature and fire pit provide the perfect space to unwind even further.

Zawalski Construction played an integral part in the planning and construction of this new modern living space. Making sure each step of the construction process went smooth even though there are always unforeseen challenges when renovating an older home.
